Janet was born on August 14, 1933, in Hastings, NE to Walter M. and Elizabeth (Bott) Utecht. She spent her years growing up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1952. On April 7, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Scheidemann in Hastings, NE. They made their home in various communities while he served his country in the military. Later they moved to Sutton where she resided until her death. Through the years, Janet was employed by various restaurants in Sutton and enjoyed her time with the public. She enjoyed her outings with her special friends, Marjorie Finley, Kathy Lemkau, and her Bingo friends Virginia Carlson and Judy Smith. She never missed an episode of The Price is Right and will be missed by her cat Boo Boo. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver Jo Jo Roemmich. Without these people, she would not have enjoyed life to the end as they brought her much friendship, allowing her to get out of the house.

Those left to cherish many, many memories are her children and spouses, Terry and Wendy Scheidemann of Sutton, Wayne and Patty Scheidemann of Lincoln and Lisa and Randy Griess of Sutton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and another due in July of next year. Sisters-in-law, Frances Utecht of Las Vegas, NV, Sharon Utecht of Denver, CO, Dorothy Scheidemann of Salem, OR, brother-in-law, Merlin Heye of Florida, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on May 12, 2006, six brothers, Lavern, Lloyd, Harold, Virgil, Delbert, Roger, and sister Shirley Heye.

Deepest sympathy for your loss. Aunt Janet was a very loving Lady. My Dad loved being with her and talking about anything. Say Hi to everybody for us. Till we meet again. 😥

Once I went to college, I remember calling Grandma from time to time. I'd always have to check the time, because if it was between 10 and 11, I knew she wouldn't answer because she'd be watching the Price is Right.

I remember being at daycare at Aunt Wendy's and Grandma Scheidemann would come visit us kids and everyone was so excited.

I told my roommate in college many many stories about Grandma Scheidemann and up until her death, we'd still chat about her. My favorite was story was when Grandpa was mad at her for losing a ring with black hills gold in it. She found it after he passed, she went to his grave, and said, "Here, I found it!" I'm remembering so many stories about her and it makes me laugh and I know she will be missed.

I know she is looking down on us and very happy to finally have an eye on all the grandkids and great grandkids at once.

I already miss you, Grandma. Until we meet again, I'll be drinking a Bud Light every now and then in memory of you.

Love you, Ansley, Andrew, and Zoey.

Son of a friend/friend

Janet is the first person I remember, remembering. Her personality made her impossible to forget. She worked with my mom, Lois Brehm/Ulmer at the Skyliner when I was a kid. I saw her off and on over the years and was always glad when I did. I was sad to hear of her passing.
