Kendall was born November 19, 1929, to Ivan and Ruth (Kendall) Ham on a farm southeast of Sutton, NE. He attended two schools in Fillmore County until the family moved to a farm south of Saronville. After graduating from Sutton High School in 1946, he attended Kearney State College and the University of Nebraska Lincoln Ag College. He then began farming with his father and later on his own.

On August 27, 1950, he married Margaret “Marge” McBride and they moved to the family farm. They had three children – Don, Rick and Terri. Kendall loved living on the farm with his family and especially enjoyed raising cattle. Kendall and Marge also enjoyed square dancing, roller skating and playing pitch with friends and neighbors.

Kendall served on church boards and the Sutton Coop Propane Board. He was elected to the Clay County Board of Supervisors and served 16 years, several as Chairman. He enjoyed meeting many people and working with other County employees and officials.

After semi-retiring, he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren on the farm. They took turns with the Gator either riding with Grandpa or driving themselves. After over 60 years in farming and the cattle business, they sold their farmstead and moved to Sutton. There they enjoyed flowers and gardening, as well as visits from family and friends.

Kendall is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Marge, of Sutton; his three children, Don (Jeannette) of Lincoln; Rick (Carla) of Henderson, NV; and Terri (Terry) McGinnis of Sutton; grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Ziemba; Mitch (fiancée Mary Slattery); Julianne (fiancé Trevor Fosler); Lindsay (Jeremy) Holm; Mason, Ian, Tyler (Katie), Emilee (Adam) Soukup; Lauren (Billy) Allen and Hailee (friend Turner Dahl) Hanthorn; great-grandchildren, Parker and Karsyn Ziemba; Evie and Carter Holm; Nora, Mavis and Claire Ham; Rylee Soukup and Finn Allen; sister, Beverly Epp; brother-in-law, John (Jan) McBride; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Kendall was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ruth (Kendall) Ham; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannine and Wayne Erickson; infant sister, Arden Elaine and brother-in-law, Elmer Epp.

To the entire Ham family,
I am so sorry for your family's loss. I have many, many, many, fond memories of our Christmas times at the family farm south of Saronville. We were upstairs playing, mothers were preparing delicious Christmas dinner, and fathers were discussing cattle with a bunch of laughs in between. I always admired Kendall, and still do, for his hard work and dry sense of humor. I know he will rest in peace about 20 feet away from Ivan and Ruth, and Jeannine and Wayne amongst others.
