Sutton resident Helen Ochsner, 90, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton, NE.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton with Rev. Joe Vusich officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 1 p.m. 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5 p.m. 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Helen was born March 19, 1928, in Sutton, NE to August and Edna (Bettger) Meyer. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1946.

On June 1, 1947, she married Donald W. Ochsner at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton. Don and Helen farmed for many years. During this time, Helen took care of the home including cooking for the many men who helped with the farm operation and anyone else who came to visit. Don and Helen enjoyed their 59 years together that included traveling the world.

Helen was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church. She was a part of the church for her entire life. It was where she was born, confirmed, married, and where she will be buried. She was a lifelong member of Ladies Aid and was a member of the Matronettes Extension Club for numerous years.

She is survived by her son, Gary and wife Jody of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Cindy and husband Don of Lincoln, NE; son, Jim and wife Denise of Sutton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Maze, Jill Vermaas both of Des Moines, IA; Melissa Jeffrey, Mike Hull both of Lincoln, NE; Clint Ochsner of Glenvil, NE; Natalie Mettler of Menno, SD; Justine Ehlers of Fairmont, NE; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald W. Ochsner; brother, Robert Meyer; sister, Marian (Meyer) Dirks; brother-in-law, Bob Dirks and niece, Vicki Dirks.
