Marilyn was born July 9, 1937, in Glenvil, NE to George and Helen (Steinbruck) Syring. She was a 1954 graduate at Sutton High School. She married Jean Laffitte of Mansfield, LA on December 26, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center, NE. Marilyn had many hobbies in which she loved sewing, crocheting, quilt making, square dancing, playing games and spending time with her family. She loved the outdoors too, fishing in her younger years, bird and squirrel watching and most of all visiting her friends. She had some wonderful friends over her lifetime and shared many cherished memories with them all.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jean Laffitte of Sutton, NE; children, Bruce Laffitte and his wife Lennie (Kastens) of Salina, KS; Bonnie and husband Otis Calhoun of Mansfield, LA; Julie and husband Randy Fuller, of Stonewall, LA; and Debbie and husband Bill George of Sutton, NE; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I always enjoyed Jean and Mariyln's visits. I loved her sense of humor and how she loved on my kids like they were her own. She was so down to earth and easy to talk with (and boy would we talk). I loved her and will miss her. Please give Uncle Jean my love. Keeping you all in our prayers.

Fred and I were saddened by the news of Marilyn's passing. She was a wonderful lady with the voice of an Angel when she sang. Now she can sing with the whole chorus of Angels. Our deepest sympathy to her family.

Marilyn and her family were special friends in my elementary years. I have thought of her often through the years. Would read in the paper when she was back in Sutton to visit relatives and that she had moved back to Sutton. We are friends with Cassie now. Blessings of comfort and peace to the family.
