A Funeral Service for Royce will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center, Nebraska with Rev. Bill Harrold officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, Nebraska.
Graveside Services will be conducted at the Clay Center Cemetery.
Memorials are to be directed to the United Church of Christ in Clay Center, Nebraska or Alzheimer's Support Group in North Platte, Nebraska
Royce Leslie East, 96, of North Platte, formerly of Clay Center, died November 7, 2017 at Linden Court, North Platte.
He was born on July 24, 1921, at his parent's home west of Clay Center, Nebraska, in rural Clay County to Eva Gertrude Byrkit East and Vern Castle East.
On May 14, 1944, he married Erma Loraine Williamson of Wood Lake, Nebraska, in Clay Center and farmed in the area for 36 years, sold grain storage and trucked. They moved to North Platte in September 1999 to be closer to family when Erma's health began to fail due to Alzheimer's disease.
Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn (Larry) Lichti of Kearney, Janice Legg of Omaha and Karen (Doug) Powers of North Platte; seven grandchildren Robert (Tracy) Lichti of Omaha, Anne Carey of Omaha, Kathi (Josh) Bradley of Minden, Jeff Legg of Omaha, Ryan (Theresa) Legg of Atlantic, Iowa, Brian (Jamie) Powers of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeremy (Molly) Powers of Eugene, Oregon; and 11 great grandchildren Kate and Sam Lichti, Kylie, Cody and Cole Carey; Easton Legg; Brandon and Chayce Klein, Gracelyn and Caden Bradley, Ethan and Evan Powers, nieces Julie (Doug) Cassens, Linda Remmenga, Sarah (Mike) Boeka and nephew David (Judy) Woods and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern (Eva) Byrkit East, wife Erma (Williamson) East, infant brother Vern Jr., son-in-law Robert Legg, sister and brother-in-law Beulah and Royal Woods, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Francis and Art Illingworth, nephews Doug, Mike and Mark Illingworth, and special friend Doreta Bailey.
