Betty Lou Steinhauer

Sutton resident, Betty L. (Nowka) Steinhauer, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton, Nebraska.

Betty’s wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be held at the Sutton Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family at 2360 Road 321, Sutton, NE 68979, to be designated at a later date.

Betty was born on November 8, 1931, to Frank Alvin Nowka and Ida Marie (Hinesh) Nowka in Grand Island, NE. Betty graduated from Hastings High School, Hastings, NE in 1949. She then attended Lincoln General School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in September of 1952. Betty was united in marriage to Stanley P. Steinhauer at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, in Lincoln, NE on March 4, 1954. To this union, three sons were born. Betty worked for several doctors in the Sutton area, before becoming the Director of Nursing at the Sutton Community Home. After retiring from the Sutton Community Home, Betty spent her time sewing baby blankets, hooded bath towels, bibs and sweatshirts. She enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and loved it when her great-grandchildren stopped to visit.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Craig Steinhauer and wife, Tammie; Kent Steinhauer and wife, Felicia; Brian Steinhauer and wife, Carey, all of Sutton; eight grandchildren, Brooke Waddell (Jess); Lane Steinhauer (Kristin); Kody Steinhauer (Julie); Macy Burback (Steven); Drew Steinhauer; Tymerie Steinhauer; Shane Steinhauer and Adrien Follum; five great-grandchildren, Hensley Steinhauer; Kamryn, Kooper and Jensyn Steinhauer; and Elly Burback; sister, JoAnn Gable; sister-in-law, Ruth Steinhauer; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Steinhauer; parents, Frank and Ida Nowka; her in-law’s, Phillip and Marie Steinhauer; brother-in-law’s, Roger Steinhauer and Don Gable.

I am so sorry you have lost both parents. I have fond memories of both of them. I remember the many dinners we had at Grandma Steinhauer's house, playing games,visits to the farm, and swimming together.I wish you all peace and love during this sad time.

It is with a heavy heart I write these words of sincere condolences to you...I am so sorry for your families to have lost Betty ...she was a very wonderful woman whom will be missed by many...she is now reunited with Stanley and our Lord in Heaven...May God keep His loving arms around you and grant you peace and understanding in this time of loss
